Home care has a clear limit
DrGharpe provides home healthcare for non-emergency needs. Some symptoms are medical emergencies that need an ambulance and a hospital — not a home visit. Recognising these signs quickly can save a life.
Call 108 immediately for
Chest pain or pressure, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw or back.
Difficulty breathing, gasping, or breathing that stops and starts.
Signs of stroke: face drooping on one side, weakness in an arm or leg, slurred or confused speech, or sudden loss of vision.
Severe bleeding that does not stop with firm pressure, or coughing/vomiting blood.
Loss of consciousness, fainting, or a seizure.
Severe allergic reaction: swelling of the face or throat, widespread rash, or trouble breathing.
Suspected poisoning or a drug overdose.
Severe head injury, especially with vomiting, drowsiness, or loss of consciousness.
What to do while help arrives
Call 108 and clearly state your location and the problem. If the person is unconscious but breathing, place them on their side in the recovery position if you know how. Do not give food or water to someone who is drowsy or unconscious.
Stay on the line and follow the instructions given by the emergency operator.
For everything else
For non-emergency concerns — mild fever, cough, routine follow-up, medication advice — a doctor at home can be a convenient option. DrGharpe offers 24×7 home doctor visits across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for these situations.
